MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit Balut Island in Sarangani province, Davao Occidental on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 12:44 p.m. and located east of Balut Island.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to Phivolcs, the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 89 kilometers.

No damage or aftershocks are expected from the earthquake, the agency added.
